The Big Apple is on the Map

The Thibaud Reunion Committee in New York held its first meeting on Saturday, June 16th, at

1103 E. Gun Hill Road in the Bronx. The meeting was well attended with a strong brainstorming participation from those present.

The group has identified that the main focus of its participation in the Thibaud Reunion will be education and sports.  Some of the strongest ideas were plans for to set up an ungoing foundation, that will not only serve a purpose for the reunion but will be remain the New York group’s major dedication to the Thibaud community.

Another major undertaking for the group is to set up a 5013c (non profit foundation), which will assist the group in its fundraising operations, as well as allow the group to target corporate support and to have a lasting relationship with the Thibaud community, thereby providing ongoing assistance.

There were lots of fundraising ideas which were identified and some of them are strongly being considered.

According to the group’s leader, Mrs. Pearl Margaret Douglas, “We here in New York want to work extremely hard for the youths of Thibaud. We want to focus on their educational wellbeing, and on projects that nurture their love of learning.”

The next meeting will be held at the same location, Saturday July 14, same place between 7 and 9pm, and the agenda will focus on fundraising events as well as firming up the participation of the New York participation in the Thibaud Reunion 2008 project.

Vielle Case Credit Union is on a Mission

The Vielle Case Co-orperative Credit Union would like to erge all who are planning to vist Thibaud during the Thibaud Reunion 2008 to open an account if you have not done so. The funds will come in handy, especially towards the end of the trip when funds are gradually depleting.

It is also a great idea to support a credit union that has been instrumental in shaping the economic landscape of our community. Most of our families and even ourselves have received loans from the credit union with satisfactory interest rates and payment plans.

The credit union also stands in helping to build, educate and nurture the fabric of our community, and has done so for decades.

Logo Winner Announced

Congratulations to Sean Francis for designing the winning logo for the Thibaud Reunion 2008.  Although Sean grew up in Roseau, (a graduate of St.Mary's Academy class of 2003) his heart is in Thibaud, as his paternal side of his family is from Thibaud. So it is no surprise that he has captured the true essence of what we want the logo to look like.

Thank you all those who voted. His logo received over 67% of the votes.

We will soon be voting on print color and reunion theme. Please stay connected.

Thibaud Fundraiser Attracts Guests

Congratulations to the Thibaud Reunion committee for successfully executing another great fundraiser on June 4th.  According to Mrs. Theresa Royer, the committee’s leader, the participation was remarkable, and surprisingly, the visitors outnumbered the locals. People came from as far as Woodfordhill to enjoy Sandwich Beach in Thibaud, which is slowly becoming one of the hottest beaches on the island.

There were tones of food items being sold as well as soft and hot drinks.  Hundreds of dollars were raised and the committee is confident that they are on the way to meeting their targeted goal.

So far three main projects has been identified by the committee and they are still being confirmed. In the near future they will be announced.

The Reunion committee in Thibaud is pleased with the continued efforts of the entire Thibaud community.

South Florida's Fundraiser a Success

The South Florida group has showed how dedication, team work and strong group participation can make a difference in having a successful fundraising event. The group hosted a massive fundraiser at the home of Majorie and Delford Paul. There were over 200 people in attendance, on the Sunday of memorial day weekend. The weather was great which encouraged a high attendance.

The event was highly publicized and people came to show their support from all major counties of South Florida. Everyone was please with the heavy turnout and to see people they had not seen in years. It was a mini representation of what the Thibaud Reunion will be like.

There were lots of fun acticivities such as music, an inflatable for the kids to play on, there were also items being raffled and most importantly, there were lots of food items such as barbeque chicken, rice, among other foods and drinks.  Lots of money was raised, which will help support the projects that South Florida has identified.

All in all the response to the fundraiser was very positive and people of Thibaud origin and “foreigners” alike are looking forward to and would like to participate in the next fundraising event.

The group’s executives would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support. They also want to recognize these members for their outstanding performance: Mr. Michael Massicott, Frampton Francios, Addison Francios, Dean Francios, Mrs. Cecelia Ettiene, Mrs. Nathanie Francios and DJ'S David & Lester from the group Rude Boy Sound

System for going above and beyond in making this day a success. Lastly,

they want to give special recognition to Delford & Magorie for allowing

them total access to their property making it a very relaxing, fun,

friendly and hospitable environment.
